Shocking Developments!

Wow, what a busy week. Clarice got her flight plans finalized, I got my flight plans finalized, and I got a job. Yep, you read that right. Jon's found work...sort of.

When I first told my bosses I was leaving, they joked about my working from Australia. Then we remembered it would be night, and I did not want to become nocturnal. Well, 6 weeks pass and they've found no one to replace me, so they tossed the idea out again. Instead of working while the bank was open, I could take parts of my job (report writing, software development, testing) and work during the AU day. So, once I get to AU I will begin working for...my current company! :-) How funny is that? I will say, it is nice that they have realized how much I do, how important I am to the company, and how much I genuinly enjoy working here. The more I think about it, the more excited I get.

I'll have to get a very high speed internet connection so I can log into servers here in IN, and we will have to really communicate back and forth what I am doing and when I need to get things done by, but I think it can work out really well. Some of the things I am leaving will be picked up by others. Then, when I get back, I can either fall right into my current position or we can talk about something different. A big thing for the company was my willingness to come back to work here once I get back from AU. Since quitting a job I enjoy was something I didn't like about the trip, and not having any income out of me was also a concern, now both are wiped off the board. Talk about an answer to prayer!

Anyway, things are getting very hectic and Clarice is updating our checklist almost daily. We've got so much to do and so little time to do it in!

Jon
